Lynne Hartle in the next stage of her fight

Hello friends and family,

As many of you know, our mom, Lynne Hartle, has been courageously battling Triple Negative Breast Cancer since September 2024. While recovery is never a straightforward journey, she has faced many unexpected complications along the way.

Despite undergoing chemotherapy, which was quickly interrupted by a life-threatening sepsis infection requiring an emergency 4-week stay at LGH, as well as a lumpectomy and lymph node removal in January, the cancer has unfortunately persisted and spread. Her doctors at BC Cancer have recommended a more aggressive round of chemotherapy starting this week, hoping it will halt the cancer’s spread. We will all be closely monitoring her to prevent the severe reactions she faced in the past, whose root causes are still undetermined.

While Lynne is deeply grateful for the support she's received from organizations like Swim Bowen, The Legion and Helping Hands, her treatment and recovery are taking much longer than expected. As she has been unable to work, even part-time, we are now facing significant financial challenges, as she will continue to be unable to work while undergoing ongoing treatment for the foreseeable future.

Our mom is so appreciative of the love and support she has already received from her friends, family, and the Bowen Island community. However, she is now in a position where the GoFundMe is our only remaining option to ensure her basic needs are met as she continues this difficult fight.

For years, mom has been an invaluable asset to the Bowen Island community. She has tirelessly volunteered to support families in need through the Legion Family Fund and has been a strong advocate for women’s health, organizing the Mammogram Clinic to the island. Ironically, she now finds herself in the position of needing support—something she would always be the first to offer others.
