For more than 12 years, my sister-in-law Lynn has been in a relentless battle with breast cancer. She’s faced every challenge with courage: a mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, multiple rounds of chemo and radiation, and the emotional whiplash of remission followed by new diagnoses. When tumors in her neck required removal, she underwent yet another major surgery—resulting in steel rods to stabilize her spine.

Just when we hoped she might finally have some peace, Lynn received heartbreaking news: the cancer has metastasized to her lungs. On November 21, she will undergo surgery to remove an entire lobe of her lung in hopes of stopping the spread.

Lynn is currently on disability and still working as much as she can, but this surgery will require weeks of recovery time. During that time, the financial pressure doesn’t stop—her mortgage, car payment, medical bills, utilities, and simply the cost of living continue to pile up. She also has her sweet pup, Cody, who brings her so much comfort and emotional support.

Our family is doing everything we can to support her, but the reality is that the gap is bigger than we can close alone. We want Lynn to focus on healing, not on losing her home or her car because she’s too sick to work.
