My friends Mike and Lynn Shoop and their two daughters Melody and Harmony, have just had to move out of their mold infested house, and into a hotel. Recently the nightmare of Mold entered the Shoop’s every waking thought.
The Shoop’s belongings, have all been deemed hazardous...Furniture destroyed, anything porous destroyed, their beloved animals had to be sent to a shelter, pictures, kids art work…all destroyed. It feels worse than enduring a fire, because they can still see their belongings, but cannot keep them because they are now contaminated.
The health of the family is in question. Mold is really dangerous to the body. They have endured respiratory infections, headaches, sinus infections, and many other medical problems. They will all have to undergo medical evaluations to determine the next course of action to their wellness.
The Shoops, like many of us who live in Marin County, do so because we love it, not necessarily because we can afford it.
Because all of their belongings are deemed contaminated, they will need to start over, from the ground up. The hotel cost alone is more than they were paying for rent, and has been huge financial burden. Because of their current living situation, they will not have room to store everything until they find new permanent accommodations, so we are requesting monetary donations at this time.
Lynn has been an amazing friend to me and to this community. She is one of the first to pay it forward, she gives to others not even knowing the family. Lynn has been an amazing friend, community leader, contributor and former Director of the Novato Mothers Club, advocate for children with Autism, Originator of the Novato in the Know, as well as countless other amazing attributes.
Mike her awesome husband has contributed many volunteer hours to Olive Elementary School. Mike is a skilled craftsman whose work can be seen in several Marin County homes and offices as well as several other communities throughout the bay area. (Got Wood Custom Cabinetry). Let’s help this family as only we can….Your contributions to their plight are critical to help them regain a sense of normalcy.
Thank you in advance
