Lynette & Ruben need our help

Our friends need our help!

As some of you may know, both Lynette and Ruben have had an unbelievably difficult time these past six months. 2020 was an incredibly difficult year for many, and like others, Lynette and Ruben did their best to roll with the punches. However, the punches landed a little harder on our friends.

Lynette has spent the past several months flying back and forth between ID and TX. She is doing all that she can to support her mom and family while her mom battles Glioblastoma. This diagnosis was given on July 12, 2020, and along with it an understanding that she would have just 12 short months to live. Lynette is trying her best to spend all available moments she has with her mom. Building those memories and trying to bring the family and her mom some comfort.

Ruben stood by his mom and helped her fight for health for several months. She not only fought for life, she did so while also suffering from a hip injury that they were unable to do surgery on because of her failing kidney. Unfortunately, this amazing and strong woman lost the battle on August 31, 2020. The lose of his mother has left a whole in his heart that no one will be able to fill. Memories are all that remain.

2021 started out with a bang! TX is experiencing the coldest weather they have seen in decades. With the below freezing weather, snow, and freezing rain came a host of complications. Most of Houston lost both power and water for several days. Lynette and Ruben lost power Monday morning causing their pipes to freeze. Power was returned on Tuesday evening, but with that came broken water pipes. Their house has flooded and is currently under 3” of standing water. As I mentioned above, in the past 6 months, they have said goodbye to one matriarch and prepare to say goodbye to another. All they will have remaining is the memories and any pictures they are able to salvage from the flooding they are currently experiencing.

Thankfully they have homeowner’s insurance! The downside is that there is a $3,000 deductible to start the repairs that are desperately needed. Along with the repairs, they will need a safe place to stay until the repairs are completed. With 2020 behind us, and 2021 starting out the same, they do not have the finances required for the deductible. Let’s all come together and see how we can help them recover from the latest of unfortunate events. All funds will go towards the repairs and a place to stay that is safe and warm. We love y’all... Stay strong.
