My name is April Moat and Lynette and I have been best friends for 40 years. I am creating this fundraiser to help offset some of the expenses she has already incurred for travel, treatment, and time off work. She’s still in the middle of this fight, so future expenses are still forthcoming as well.

About Lynette’s diagnosis:

Lynette was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on 2/14/25—the same cancer her mom and uncle had as well. Her first admission to Ruby Memorial was 38 days. After her first round of induction chemo, she was in remission. Unfortunately, through the consolidation chemo, the leukemia has come back. She has had a total of 5 rounds of different kinds of chemo, resulting in two more hospitalizations due to blood infections. She has been unable to work since her diagnosis. She is starting a new type of chemo on 9/29/25 since her last bone marrow biopsy showed approximately 7% leukemia cells remaining.

Funds raised here will be used for hospital bills, meals, transportation, and lodging since travel to Morgantown is required. The goal is to get back into remission and move on to a Stem Cell Transplant—the only known cure for AML. When that happens, Lynette will spend at least another 30 days inpatient at Ruby, then around 70 days as an outpatient staying at the Rosenbaum Family House. Her husband, Rob, is required to stay with her for the 70 days as her caregiver, so he will not be working during that time.
