Mother of three tragically passes after having Influenza A

Donation protected
Lynette Buhler passed away suddenly at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She had been diagnosed with Influenza A on Sunday at the Indian Head Hospital and was discharged with medication and ordered to drink lots of fluids. On Monday, her symptoms worsened, and she was brought back to the Indian Head Hospital. As the hospital attempted to airlift her to Regina, an ambulance instead had to be dispatched from Fort Qu’Appelle that quickly transported her to the Pasqua Hospital, where she was admitted directly into the ICU. After doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to stabilize her condition and an attempt was made to revive her, she succumbed on Tuesday around 5 pm. She was 48 years old.

Lynette grew up in Waldheim and lived in Qu'Appelle, SK. She had three wonderful children whom she adored Brody, Brandy, and Justin. Tragically, her son Brody when he was only 19 years old died in a work-related car accident while travelling in the mountains to Prince George, British Columbia. Then two years ago, her mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and after a brief battle, sadly passed away with the family only able to get together last year to have her burial. Lynette’s remaining children, Brandy and Justin, still grieving the loss of their brother and grandmother, now are having to deal with the tragic loss of their mom, which is beyond comprehension for many of us and all that they have suffered.

Before Lynette’s passing, she had worked in long-term care in Regina. She had so much compassion for the elderly and enjoyed caring for and spending time with them. It was her passion to help others. Unfortunately, the Friday before her passing was her last day of work. The facility she had long worked for dismissed its employees as part of the health authority’s plan to takeover care homes, leaving her to depend on employment insurance she would be entitled to going forward. As a result, her remaining children are left with nothing to cover any expenses or no monetary support for them.

It is for these reasons mentioned above that I am reaching out to all who knew and loved Lynette and her children, as well as those who didn’t get a chance to know her to please consider donating funds, even a small amount, as every little bit helps. Let our act of kindness show Brandy and Justin they are not alone and that there are people still here who care and will continue to offer support throughout this difficult time.

Thank you.
