In July 2020, Tanya Franklin, my then 38- year-old once lively and ambitious sister was diagnosed with stage III Chronic Lyme disease.  Tanya J Miller is, from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and is the founder of Talking with Tanya.  As an author, speaker, coach and strategist; her focus is on life and leadership striving to help individuals and organizations discover, diagnose, and develop purpose, passion, vision, and destiny, to do life and leadership unapologetically on purpose.

Since learning of this devastating news, my family and I have researched the disease thoroughly, discovered she has co-infections and autoimmune conditions that also came with the disease, and worked tirelessly to find her adequate care and support in the means of Lyme Literate Medical Doctors, at home health services, durable medical equipment, and anything else we could through the means of both current insurance limitations and financial constraints. Since then, she has been rushed to the emergency room on at least four occasions with inadequate care and knowledge by local professionals on how to treat this growing, yet silent epidemic.

Our family travels to Louisiana for her to receive care under her primary LLMD, yet the disease continues to appear to win as it debilitates her body and mind with Lyme seizures and constant agonizing pain.  Our family constantly solicits prayers and support as the both financial and emotional burden exist directly between her and her husband. She is no longer able to work and on disability through her job at partial pay, but expenses for care continue to grow high. My sister has since chosen to ask for financial support via love gifts to help manage these burdens and has received to date $1,000.

However, time is running out. Her body is constant pain, she has Lyme seizures often daily that wreak havoc on her mind, body and soul. She now uses the aid of a wheelchair,  walker and cane to get by, among other respite tools of care to manage the damage this disease is doing to her body and mind.  Her treatment plan requires services that are only offered at the Envita Medical Center, to which many in the Lyme community have attributed their remission too.

After factoring in the funds we have raised, there is an estimated balance of $125,000 to pay for the treatment and temporary residency. On behalf of Tanya and our family, I am writing to ask for financial support. Please consider any donation amount to assist us with this expense. The Envita Medical Center is one of the leading facilities in the nation with over a hundred years of combined research  and clinical experience treating complex cases like Tanya’s.

After being tossed around the medical system from doctor to doctor starting in January 2020 with misdiagnoses, suffering chronic illnesses, as previously stated, she was diagnosed with stage III Chronic Lyme disease in July 2020.   Although Tanya is currently covered with healthcare coverage, she loses this and her employment status in March 2021. Moreover, whilst on long term disability, monthly continued coverage and financial means is at the mercy of the Disability company to approve the partial salary she currently receives.

Lyme disease unfortunately is an extremely politicized, misdiagnosed chronic illness not covered through medical insurance.  Additionally, there is only one Lyme disease specialist in the state of Texas where she resides over which is four hours away and few treatment facilities across the country.

What most people love about Tanya the most is she is still pushing purpose, demonstrating a servant leaders’ mindset while helping others in the midst of a pandemic and chronic pain.  Her biggest and most instrumental messages pushes purpose unapologetically and motivating those who don’t believe they have a purpose or that it’s just too hard.  Tanya has no complaints, doesn’t blame anyone for her condition, or ask “why me?”.
Although Tanya has no desire to be a burden to anyone and is desperate to regain her health and in return, help others.  So please consider sending a prayer and or providing financial support to help get Tanya the treatment she needs. I know that the return of your investment into my sister’s health and medical care will result in Tanya’s commitment to serving others and creating change and awareness.

We have learned that Lyme disease and the coinfections that exists with Lyme disease are extremely difficult to diagnose and treat and are debilitating for the person.  We believe this facility can help restore Tanya to good health.  I would love for you to meet Tanya and I, to discuss this proposition further. Thank you for your consideration and please feel free to reach out to me if you have any question or concerns.
