Marge Peter has always been one of the most inspiring people to know. She has consistantly loved life and lived it to the fullest.

 She has always found a lot of joy from nature, the outdoors, and living a healthy and active lifestyle. Whether it was kayaking to rock climbing, her adventurous spirit always brought her to new experiences and meeting new people.

In November 2014 she began to experience a rapid decline in health after an operation on her wisdom teeth became the catalyst in previous symptoms spiraling out of control.

She began experiencing massive inflammatory pains throughout her body, lost ability to use her legs, developed 24/7 head pressure and migraines, brain swelling, tingling and loss of feeling in her extremities, severe stiffness of joints, seizures, impairment of vision, developed photosensitivity, severe loss of short term memory, developed speech impediments, and struggled getting out of getting out of bed every morning due to muscle pain and exhaustion.

Despite an array of visits to numerous specialists, doctors, and medical tests no one seemed to have an explanation. 

After an excruciating five months she was referred to a clinic in the USA by a woman who had a similar experience and was diagnosed with Lyme.

There she found a doctor and answers to her previously mysterious health issues and is being treated and responding slowly but posivitely.

It has been for her and her family and boyfriend a staggering insight as to the lack of awareness and seriousness of the ability to recognize, diagnose, and treat a disease that can cripple so many aspects of your life.

It is very difficult to find a Lyme literate doctor capable of treating late stage Lyme here in Canada, and there has been limited effort into Canadian medical research of this disease which affects more people than are aware due to misdiagnosis.

Recent studies have linked intra-cellular bacteria such as Lyme and its co-infections left untreated to diseases such as
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic Fatigue
- Parkinsons
- ALS
- MS

It has been scary in many ways and financially stressful on Marge's family and boyfriend since the lack of awareness leads to lack of treatment in Canada, resulting in private treatment in the United States. Due to the fragile condition Marge was in, she could not tolerate antibiotic treatment because of a phenomenon known as a "Herxheimer reaction" found only in Syphilis and Lyme patients.
This is when any form of antimicrobial treatment is administered the bacteria that is killed creates a flood of toxins throughout the body which can overwhelm the organs and system of the patient if not done in the proper increments. This balance is specific to each patient and their bacterial load and can only be managed by a doctor who specializes in these specific bacterias.

Marge is working with specialists currently using gentler antimicrobials and more natural treatments to strengthen her body so it will be able to handle stronger antibiotics in the near future. These treatments and medications and specialists are extremely expensive and not covered by medical plans and any help would be a serious weight off her family and boyfriend.

Marge is improving in small steps and is excited to make a full recovery, to experience life fully again, to spread awareness, and to possibly study naturopathic medicine.
