Hello friends and family, Little Lyla Mae and Abby need your help! On May 11th she had to be admitted to UVA for an extreme case of nausea and diarrhea. After a round of tests, it was found that she had a bacterial infection in her intestinal track, making her unable to keep any food or water in her system, causing her to lose a significant amount of weight and become extremely dehydrated and nutrient deficient. After almost a week at the hospital, staff thought she would be ready to go home. After giving it her best try, she was still unable to keep any food or water down, and had to be readmitted to UVA Sunday evening on May 17th. While everyone was hoping it’d be a short stay just to get her back on her feet again, it looks like that will not be the case. The doctor said the decision to bring her back in after only being out for 36 hours was a life saving choice. Now back under the care of the amazing and professional staff of UVA, we are working together to find the best way to get Lyla Mae healthy again. They have offered her the best treatments they know of. The severity of Lyla’s case is very rare, and everyone is so grateful to have these brilliant doctors and nurses working to get Lyla Mae back to her silly, happy, healthy self. That being said, we have no idea how long our road to recovery will be to full recovery. Abby has also unable to work because she staying by Lyla’s side 24/7 while she has been being cared for at UVA for the past 16 days. This fundraiser will help cover the expenses of her treatment and loss of income while we focus on getting Lyla back to full health. I know so many people care for this sweet girl, and the number of people who have reached out already offering help has been overwhelming and touched my heart.
