Lydia's Thyroid Cancer Fund

Hey guys, for years my wife Lydia has struggled with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease. Recently, she discovered a cyst growing rapidly in a short amount of time which required surgery to have it removed. They had to remove her left thyroid and determined that the cyst was malignant and she has follicular carcinoma.
Because of this, she has to go back into surgery on February 27 to have her right thyroid removed as well. We are confident that the surgery will remove the cancer, and since she will have no more thyroids, resolve the hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease difficulties.
However, I am requesting this fundraiser because the medical bills will be more than what we can currently afford and we have already had to go into debt with the down payment for the first surgery that already took place. Following this upcoming procedure, she will be on radiation therapy for a short time and thyroid medication the rest of her life.
I have gone back and forth about starting this, as we are not looking for a handout and are a proud and hard-working couple. I know the cancer is non-life threatening and it is not a very large amount relatively speaking, but would like to exhaust all options before taking on debt to cover expenses.
Last summer, my wife and I checked off nearly every major stressor a couple could have : both of us decided to switch careers (and took paycuts in doing so), we moved away from our family and a community we spent over five years building a family in, we became first-time home buyers, and had our second child, in a span of about 6 weeks. We are confident this was the right plan for us but with her thyroid issues and constant doctors visits and prescriptions, the costs are adding up.
