Hi, my name is Lydia and I am really excited to be joining 15 other people from my church for a mission trip to Tanzania in June 2026. I need to raise £1650 to cover the cost of airfares, travel, visas, insurance, accommodation and food. If I raise more than I need, any excess will go towards supplies for the trip, for example school resources and building materials.

I am grateful for the opportunity to join a mission trip from my church, St Werburgh’s Derby and visit a very different culture. We want to make a difference in the lives of all those we visit, but I am well aware that it will make a difference in my life too.

We are visiting two different charities in Tanzania, to go and visit the work that they do.

Zuia Tanzania - their primary aim is to prevent human trafficking and they work towards this using education, empowerment and entrepreneurship.

They encourage small groups to visit them, to join in the work they are doing, to pray with and support them and then to come back to the UK and share about the impact they are making. Members of our team we will be helping with a community building project and running youth and kids days. I will share more details of what I will be involved with nearer the time.

Compassion village - Compassion - across our church we sponsor about 40 children in a Tanzanian village. We are going to connect with and encourage the local church which runs the projects where the children we sponsor attend. We will get to attend one of the project days and so see the work that so many of our church members are contributing to.
