Lydia is your normal sweet, loving, and on the go 10 month old. Unfortunately that all changed when she got sick on Oct. 31st. Initially thought to just be a GI virus and dehydration, she just wasn't improving and actually continued to get worse. She was eventually moved to the ICU and diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. She has had a tough ride over the past week and a half: lab draws, IVs, MRIs, CT scans, a lumbar puncture and a breathing tube, just to name a few. Thankfully, she is making small strides each day. She has now been extubated but remains in the ICU for very close monitoring.
Life will continue to go on as lofty medical bills and everyday household bills begin to pile up for Steven and Marcella. Thankfully Marcella was granted FMLA but will be taking unpaid leave for the next several months.
Many of you have asked to help and I know that assisting in this way can alleviate some of the stressors moving forward. Thank you so much for loving and helping Steven and Marcella in this way.
