Meet Lydia... one of the bravest 19 year olds I know!
She needs your help sponsoring a meal a day of TPN.
TPN is Total Parental Nutrition which is supplying her with the necessary calories to sustain her life through a central line in her chest.
Unfortunately even after the health insurance pays their part, TPN is going to cost us about $2000 per month. At those prices you would think it would taste and smell like a filet mingon... quite the opposite... smells more like cat puke.
It has been a long 5 years trying to figure out what was causing the decline in her health. Years of debilitating abdominal pain, joint pain, fatigue and weight loss.
She has been through 4 surgeries, 2 biopsies and at least a 100 doctors appointments and tests. All the while going to school and working part time.
She was diagnosed with SMAs, MALs, Nutcracker Syndrome, and Pelvic Congestion Syndrome... all of which are Vascular Compression Syndromes.
She had 2 stents placed in the illiac arteries which resulted in a blood clot now requiring her to be on blood thinners. Her big surgery 3 weeks ago was supposed to "fix" her but we had a major set back once home and due to non stop vomiting and nausea she ended up back in the hospital for another week and on TPN becuase she was down to 82lbs.
She still can't eat or drink without vomiting and will need another surgery in a couple months since we have to wait for the clot to clear and her 10 inch incision to heal.
We need to get our girl up to 100lbs... we hate to ask for help but we just can't budget an extra $2000 a month.
Will you take Lydia "out to dinner"? One dinner with Lydia costs us $66... for every dinner date donated we will put your name on her TPN bag and send you a thank you picture. If dinner is a little too costly you can do an "appetizer or dessert" for $10.
The TPN might look like a milkshake in a bag but not even close. Lydia is struggling with this new chapter of her life, being attached to a stinky "milkshake" for 16 hours a day is really taking its toll on her physically and mentally.
Please help us feed our girl and get her back to a life every young person deserves.
