LWS Senior Trip to India
Donation protected
We need your help! Three high school seniors at the Ananda Living Wisdom School in California have chosen to travel on pilgrimage to India for their senior trip.
These students have each earned $2000 as part of the school curriculum and have been the main initiators in making this trip happen, but we also need your help in making their dream possible and helping them have this experience of a lifetime!
The trip begins in New Delhi, staying at a yoga center and spending the days touring the city, visiting cultural sites, seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra, and getting accustomed to the differences in India. Next, the group travels to Kolkata where they will visit other cultural sites including the home of the Indian saint Paramhansa Yogananda. The journey then leads to Varanasi, the cultural epicenter of India where they will take boat rides on the Ganges, see the traditional eveni ceremony, visit ashrams, and enjoy the colorful and lively markets.
The second half of the trip begins with exploring Ranikhet and hiking to the cave of the saint Babaji. They will then go to Rishikesh to enjoy the Himalayas, volunteer at the Mother Miracle School , visit more sites and ashrams, and see the nearby town Haridwar.
Your donations will also help support the Living Wisdom School , a revolutionary and unique school system. We offer students from around the world training in yoga and meditation, holistic student development, experiential learning, an individualized curriculum and a value-based education that addresses mind, body, heart and soul! Our service and adventure trips are a way for us to test ourselves in the real world and to share our gifts with the world.
About Living Wisdom School
Living Wisdom Schools are dedicated to helping students prepare for life’s challenges through joyful learning. We’re holistic educators that offer children non-sectarian, universal values and spiritual traditions from different cultures around the world. Here’s an excerpt from a committee report by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) committee report after evaluating our school:
“The school provides an exceptional caring and safe environment for students and staff. Teachers demonstrate caring concern, respect, and high expectations for each student. Individual differences are respected and honored. The learning environment is student-centered with tools for maturity and successful living as a top goal. The modeling of respect and lifelong learning by staff members makes this goal well understood for students. Staff and student commitment to service and responsibility for the community and its members are reflected in student kindness, helpfulness and support of each other and other community members.”
Why traveling is essential in the words of the wise:
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” – Mark Twain
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.” – Martin Buber
“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Miriam Beard
