Mike was diagnosed with Ph positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in January of 2015. This is an aggressive (and rare for his age) form of Leukemia, but he's strong and determined to kick cancer's ass. He's already finished the first round of chemotherapy, with 7 more rounds to go, along with a bone marrow transplant.
Mike was a firefighter and EMT for 20 years with the Germantown Fire Department. He has gone above and beyond on countless occasions and saved more lives than he can remember. He has always been willing to put other people first.
He is a devoted husband, loving father and the best big brother anyone could ask for.
The last thing any person fighting for their life needs to worry about is how they are going to pay their bills. Mike will be out of work for the next year while he goes through the chemo and builds his immune system and energy back, and he is the sole provider in his house. His loving wife, Barb, has taken on the role of caregiver. The medical expenses will be outrageous, and his monthly medications now rival that of most people's rent.
It's time for all of his family and friends, and their family and friends, to pay it forward. Mike is always the first one to offer help, whether its helping with a remodel project, car work, or moving. Every little bit will help alleviate the stress he is feeling about how he's going to get through the next year financially.
