As most of you know, jackson is under going brain surgery on April 28,2015.
Jackson suffered from a stroke very early on. This has caused damage to the left side of his brain which has caused limited mobility in his right side of his body. The damaged part of his brain is also a suspect in the cause of infantile spasms - a rare form of epilepsy. Because of the infantile spasms jackson suffers from anywhere from 3 to a hundred seizures a day. He is at risk of causing more damage to his brain.
The surgery (a functional hemisphectomy) will essentially be removing half of his brain (left side). Which should eliminate the seizures.
We are seeking funds for the following reasons; costs that are starting to add up; Including parking for consults at the hospitals, gas, food, and so on. During the surgery, we will be staying in jackson's room at sick kids hospital (but while he's in critical care we need to stay downtown- hotel), this will also help with food costs, parking etc. also, this month we don't have health insurance (cross over in mom's being cancelled because on maternity leave and dad's new job starting). Jackson is on a number (3) anti-convulsants at this time. Any extra funds after all these costs will go towards getting jackson a new chair.
