Our strong fighter, Luz is now in heaven with God. She is an amazing friend, a sister, a daughter, a motivator and a fighter. She is such a beautiful person with such a BIG heart, contagious smiles and understanding and caring soul. Luz told me back in 7th grade that FRIENDS stands for "fight for you, respect you, involve you, encourage you, need you, deserve you and save you." She is a perfect friend.
As many of you know, Luz was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma of the rib back in 2017. She went through 12 rounds of chemotherapy, 30 rounds of radiation, and then had surgery to remove two of her ribs. Everything was going great and her surgery showed she had negative margins and 98% of the cancer was dead. She was declared in remission in March 2018. Unfortunately, after three months, her cancer metastasized in her right lung and grew faster than ever. This time, chemo and radiation didn't 'work.
However, she never failed to put a smile on her face. She never failed to encourage others even when she was in so much pain. She never failed to motivate and be real with others even when she was going through so much. She showed so much love and she fought hard. Last week, she stayed at the ICU and on Monday April 22nd, she went to her heavenly Father. Now she rests in peace with her Creator.
