Hi, I’m Sherrilee, a single mum to three beautiful little souls.

Today, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and hopeful spirit for my youngest, my baby girl Lux.

Around five weeks ago, Lux developed what appeared to be a simple stye on her upper eyelid. We were sent home from hospital with antibiotics, but the swelling didn’t go down. Over the following weeks, we saw multiple doctors, changed medications, and were referred to both public and private specialists but were continuously placed on waitlists, with no urgent action taken.

Meanwhile, Lux’s condition worsened. The area under her eye began to swell dramatically, becoming red, inflamed, and painful. Her eye has been constantly irritated and at risk of further infection. It’s now been confirmed that the pressure and ongoing inflammation from this infection could potentially impact the development of her eye if not treated quickly. That’s when I knew I couldn’t wait any longer.

With the support of our GP, we were referred to Emergency again. After another round of appointments and referrals, a specialist finally offered us a private surgical option and last night, we received the incredible news that Lux may be able to have surgery as soon as August 6th.

She’ll need to be put under general anaesthetic to have the area under her eye cut and drained something that could finally bring her comfort, healing, and protect her long-term vision.

Of course, private surgery comes with overwhelming costs and with very little financial support, I’m doing everything I can to make it happen. Like any mum, I’d move mountains for my kids and I said “yes” to the surgery without hesitation, even though I don’t know how I’ll cover it yet.

So I’ve created this GoFundMe, in the hopes that anyone with a kind heart might be able to help us. Your donation will go directly toward Lux’s treatment and surgery, and help bring her out of pain and back to the happy, playful little girl she deserves to be.

We’ve been through sleepless nights, four rounds of antibiotics, countless appointments, and so many tears. I never ask for help unless I truly need it and right now, we really do.
