Monday night (Nov 3rd), I had to rush Lux to the emergency vet because she suddenly became lethargic, off balance, and not acting like herself. The vet confirmed she had a fever and a heart murmur, and they treated her with an antibiotic (Convenia) and an anti-nausea injection (Maropitant) to help stabilize her. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford all of the recommended diagnostics that night.
Her bloodwork came back relatively normal, which was a relief — but it did show she’s a little anemic and her liver values are slightly elevated which she mentioned could be fatty liver from not eating. The vet recommended further treatment and monitoring, including an ultrasound to check her bladder, kidneys, and liver to make sure everything is healing properly.
Lux showed some improvement for a bit — she started grooming herself and eating a little — but today she’s stopped eating again, and I’ve had to start syringe-feeding her to keep her nourished. I’ve attached the vets estimates for the next steps which includes the hospitalization and ultrasound.
As a recently single mom to a busy toddler already struggling to make ends meet I’m doing everything I can to help her recover. I’ve already exhausted all the funds I have and if anyone is able to donate, share, or offer support, it would mean the world to us.
