Please help us, raise money for Teresa - beautiful Mother, Grandmother, sister, wife, and friend to pay for memorial services. Every little bit helps, if you can. Thank you.

Richard (Teresa’s Son) - “This campaign has changed a little in the last day or so, as my sweet mother passed away on Sunday morning, July 1, 2018. Teresa had no savings, no assets, and both her and her husband have been on social security income for many years due to each of their individual medical conditions (Read my cousin Michelle’s letter below for details). All proceeds from this campaign will now go to her final arrangements. Even a small donation will help us have the proper celebration of life for this amazing woman. Any additional proceeds will go to Teresa’s surviving husband, Robert, who is permanently disabled and now has no caretaker. My mom fought so hard for my brothers and I. She lived a simple life, she loved her family, she loved her church, and she was a light to those around her. Words can't express how amazing this woman was. If anyone knew how to bear her cross with joy, it was my Mom. We appreciate everyone’s help and prayers! Please share, as we have less than 30 days to raise these funds. Celebration of life details will be posted as it becomes available.”

Michelle (Teresa’s Niece) - "I am writing you today on behalf of my aunt Teresa Grimaldo. Twenty-two years ago, after giving birth to her third son, Teresa was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 33 years old. Throughout the next 22 years she has fought harder than any person could fight, but this relentless disease has showed it ugly face more than 5 times. She has fought a good fight but in March of 2018 she felt something was not right and went in to the doctor to find out her cancer was back again. The doctor had recommend a chemo pill this time around which meant less time in clinics getting chemo and more time in the comfort of her own home. Little did the doctors and Teresa know, this would be the beginning of a longer fight. She took the pill as prescribed by the doctor and she started having some generalized weakness, swelling and an overall bad feeling, but she finished the medicine because her doctor told her that those are all pretty normal side effects of chemo drugs. In the beginning of April she was really bad and was taken to the ER for care. That is where they found out she had developed sepsis due to her weakened immune system caused by the chemo and that she was experiencing liver failure and congestive heart failure due to the years of chemo. She seemed to do better in the hospital and went home to her husband, which I forgot to add is very limited in his mobility due to a stroke he had 10 years ago at the age of 44. Although she was not doing great she seemed to be getting a little better and had requested physical therapy because she wanted to get stronger. As a few weeks passed, she got worse. Friends and family would stop by and check on her but for the most part she was the only one taking care of herself. She had recently changed to Covered California insurance and due to the limited income her and her husband have ($1200/mo disability) she could only afford the cheapest plan and they are not covering much of any rehabilitation for her.

Fast forward to June. She has now been in the hospital 4 times within the last 2 months, she cannot walk, stand or even sit without the assistance of someone else. Her doctor has determined that her heart is working less than 50% of what it should be working at. She is retaining water and is very anemic. Her sons split up the weekends taking turns coming down from LA to take care of her and different family members take days during the week to take care of her but aside from all of that, her condition is far beyond our ability to care for her severe medical condition. She needs medical support and care. Her insurance (Covered CA) won’t pay for much rehabilitation or nursing care and a home caregiver is anywhere between $21-$30 per hour. Myself and her entire family are asking for your support in this fight. We are asking for any type of help you can give us. Whether it be a donation to help pay for some care for her or if you know any caregivers/nurses in home support that can help us with care. We would greatly appreciate it and I promise you would not find a more deserving person. If you have any questions please feel free to call me [phone redacted]"
