Update 12/23
Luther had surgery today. The surgeon was concerned by the fact that his mouth appeared significantly worse than the day before increasing his suspicions of cancer. After performing a CT scan of head, the surgeon was hopeful that it was a cyst. The surgeon proceeded with the operation and when he cut into the area he was hoping to find a brownish clear liquid that would indicate a cyst. Unfortunately, he found large amounts of blood. He also found tissue in the area that was contraindicative of a cyst and rather points to a tumor. At this stage in the game and the appearance of the CT scan the surgeon is hopeful that this is a benign tumor that could be easily removed, but may cause some permanent damage to his jaw. The two other possibilities that the surgeon finds less likely are both aggressive cancers, one local and one systemic. The local cancer could result in the removal of half of his jaw and the systemic cancer would limit his options. At this point we are awaiting the biopsy results in order to proceed. If things look benign he will be having surgery within the next week or so. Luther is still sweet as ever and is so thankful for all of the support he has already received.
Thanks so much for the continuing support for this sweet boy,

This past week our 5 month old shepherd puppy, Luther, flipped our world upside down. The poor boy started with intense jaw swelling on his left side that has rapidly been getting worse. After multiple trips to the vet we were faced with the realization that he had a cyst that may or may not be cancerous and is extremely aggressive. Being that this young guy is only 5 months old, we are devastated. We have consulted and oral surgeon to remove the cyst and several of his teeth that are not even in yet. This page was created to a see if anyone would like to donate to his surgical fund, as we have a very long road ahead of us. Any and all donations are appreciated.
So much love,
The entire squad
