At Luther Burbank High School we challenge our students to become community-minded by considering issues affecting the community and working to improve it. As a school, we recognize that one of the issues affecting our students is the graduation rate. We are aiming to increase that rate by focusing on our freshmen because research shows 70-80% of all students who failed 9th grade will not graduate from high school.
One way we aim to accomplish this is to create a sense of belonging amongst our students by being in a freshman cohort with their peers. We want our freshmen to feel connected to their cohorts, as well as to the school.
We are seeking donations to help foster that sense of community through LBHS Class of 2029 shirts, a team building day with lunch provided, and various activities throughout the year (ice cream socials to celebrate grades, facepainting before rallies, giveaways for attendance, and more). Due to financial limitations, many of our students are unable to purchase shirts. Your contribution would have a direct impact on more than 360 students living in South Sacramento.
