Lupus IV Medication Fund Round 3
Donation protected
Hello,
My original post was below; I am now in need of another round of infusions. I should be able to start my first round next Thursday! Financially, we just need to keep up while these medical expenses still pile on. Prayers and love, Ashley.
My name is Ashley Thomas and I am a resident of St. Mary’s County. When I was 21, I was diagnosed with Lupus. Since my diagnosis, I have had countless procedures, IV therapies, Medications/prescriptions, complications, and other diagnoses. I currently stand with 13 auto-immune diseases, Crohn’s disease being one of my worst. I’ve been struggling with Myositis, and the pain has been pretty severe. This has lead me to quit my full time job, and working my businesses at a part-time basis.
I am a mom of three, one being a bonus babe that we are continuously working to settle a custody battle. We have graciously worked the last 8 years to pay for all lawyer expenses, therapy bills, extracurricular activities, basic needs, and child support. At this time, with all the continued expenses for custody, my hours being shortened due to health, gas to go back and forth to the doctors sometimes 4 days a week for myself, transporting our middle one to his school district an hour away every other week, life expenses, and all medical copay’s, it has become increasingly difficult to keep up.
Recently, I have been informed I have to be on a 12 week infusion to stabilize all my symptoms from the various diseases. With this, I have battled my insurance for about 4 weeks, putting off the initial appointment for the infusion simply because I cannot afford to get them with everything else I’m already paying for medically. My husband, has a great job on base with an aeronautical company and has great insurance. But as we’ve battled a lot recently, especially with my most recent surgery in January, insurance just sometimes CANNOT help out to the fullest. I have struggled to even begin to compose something like this, asking for help in a public matter, but I have been given really no choice. We work so hard to keep up as does every one else in todays world, but this time financially, we have been dealt a tough card. And I don’t think it’s fair that my health or insurance companies, have given me the ultimatum of my quality of life with appropriate medication, or paying an outrageous amount for medication that is a necessity.
We pray everyday for healing, and hope for a cure for Lupus. Anyone that deals with this awful disease, understands the difficulties it brings to life. Im blessed to say I have overcome many obstacles this disease has brought and I pray that once I get to start these infusions my quality of life will be improved for some time. Please do not feel obligated as I understand the financial burden today brings, a prayer or good vibes will do.
All proceeds will go directly towards my IV Infusion Co-Pays.
Thank you and God Bless,
Ashley
