Lupita was born in Mexico and the doctor’s prognosis was that she wouldn’t make it past a few months of life. My strong-willed aunt made it her life’s mission to prove the doctor wrong. She took on the responsibility of finding Lupita quality medical care in the U.S., and then made the courageous decision to adopt her. She dedicated 18 beautiful years to nursing and loving Lupita. In addition to the challenges of getting her diagnosed and cared for in the U.S., my aunt was merely in her early 20’s when she resumed the role of primary caregiver, sacrificing her youth to become a mom. My aunt has always advocated for Lupita to receive the best medical care possible. If it weren’t for her, Lupita would not have lived these wonderful 18 years of life. My aunt learned everything she needed to know in order to take care of Lupita.. She administered her medications and prepared her foods. For all of Lupita’s life, my aunt assumed the roles of mother and nurse. My uncle also took the role as Lupita’s dad and also did everything in his power to ensure their baby girl had everything she needed. 

My aunt and her husband are two of the most selfless people you will ever meet. They are the kind of folk to always welcome anyone into their home and generously shower their love on every individual in their lives. Our family is blessed to have them. To know them is to know love. And so, in this time we want nothing more than to return that love that is always so graciously given to others. We want to honor our late sister, Lupita, and support her mom and dad at this time. The funds collected will help my aunt lay Lupita to rest. 

Needless to say, Lupita had countless surgeries and spent a tremendous amount of time in hospitals and at doctors appointments. Despite this, she had a strong spirit that endured. She was deeply loved by my aunt and uncle and our family. Regardless of her medical condition, my aunt and uncle made sure she had the best life possible, always providing the best care for her.
