Helping Grieving Parents Heal
Donation protected
The world has recently lost two souls who were greater than life. Lupe Gallucio & Holly Ann Ambrosait. Two young, beautiful, loving and talented girls with their whole lives ahead of them have lost their battle with mental illness just months apart from each other.
Approximately one million people commit suicide each year worldwide, that is about one death every 40 seconds or 3,000 per day. Every year suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined, and yet suicide prevention doesn't get anywhere near the funding given to other leading causes of death.
After a suicide no one is left more broken hearted than a mother or a father. No parent should ever have to endure the pain of losing a child. The guilt and sadness they carry in their hearts could last for years. These grieving parents are often left feeling broken, alone and full of questions that have no answers. It could also be hard for some of these mothers and fathers to speak to other people about their feelings, as suicide often has a bad or shameful stigma attached to it. We want to provide a space that will change all of that for these parents!
Help us bring a little healing to these mothers and fathers who have had to experience such a tremendous loss and at the same time help us raise awareness for mental illness and suicide prevention. We are raising money to fund an all-expense paid trip to a retreat in Lupe's hometown Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica for 10 parents. This healing retreat will take place in a beautiful and judgment free space where they will be able to connect with other mothers and fathers who have shared the same experience. The retreat will be held at Vida Asana, an accredited school of yoga and mindfulness. www.vidaasana.com

There they will learn how to cope with any grief, anger or guilt they may carry by teaching them how to heal their hurt and how to channel their emotions in a positive and healthy way. They will learn yoga, meditation, attend workshops, raw organic cooking classes, group sessions, one on one counseling sessions, and have energy work done to heal any emotional trauma. The owners of The Horse Connection will also be there to provide them with an Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy experience. EFP is a powerful, experiential and effectively therapeutic approach that has an incredible impact on individuals, youth, and families. It addresses a variety of mental health and human development needs.http://www.horseconnectionscostarica.com/equine-facilitated-psychotherapy.html

This retreat idea was started by Sean McDonald, owner of Vida Asana. Sean has recently had many close friends lose their children to suicide and he thought this would be a great way to help start the healing process. Our friend Lupe received her Yoga certification at Vida Asana. Her mother Rose is still teaching yoga there from time to time.
If you would like to aid in the healing of these men and women please make a donation.
NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL! ! We have been blessed enough to be approached by an anonymous donor who is willing to match us up to $5,000 dollars of whatever funds we raise! ANYTHING YOU DONATE WILL BE DOUBLED!!!
Our dear friend Lupe Galluccio, 24. Lupe was an incredible surfer but she was an even better human being. Lupe was loved by people all around the world. In the short five years she spent living in Sarasota she touched so many hearts and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her light shined so bright that it was impossible to miss her. You instantly fell in love with her big smile and genuine heart. She had a way of making everyone she met feel incredibly special and loved. Her hugs and warmth were legendary. Sadly, Lupe lost her battle with bipolar disorder on February 23rd 2017.

The other gentle and kind soul was my best friend Annie Schuller's beautiful daughter Holly Ann Ambrosait, 23. Holly was a sweet, talented girl who loved animals, photography, playing guitar, singing and writing songs. She always had such an innocent childlike soul but Holly struggled with depression even as a child. Her father, Artie Ambrosait, took his own life when she was just 8 years old. Holly and her family were making plans to move to Sarasota looking for a fresh start at life. They knew that Holly would thrive in a beautiful and more healing environment like SRQ. Unfortunately their plans were cut short when Holly's boyfriend Chris Lorous was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on May 10th 2016. That was more than Holly could ever bear. Holly lost her battle with depression on May 18th 2016 and passed away just days after attending Chris's wake.

How we intend to use the funds;
$7500 - If we are able to raise $7500, we will provide airfare to parents who want to come to this event, that otherwise could not afford to attend. We would like to provide 10 mothers and fathers with $500 to defray travel costs and allocate $2500, to defraying the costs of bringing wonderful and empathetic emotional healers, to lead workshops and one-on-one healing sessions with the parents who attend the retreat.
$10,000 - If we are able to raise $10,000 we will allocate $2500 to having a good time creating happy memories for these parents that will last a lifetime. All expense paid excursions, spa treatments, etc. Whatever we can afford, to make sure this event, is everything people have come to expect, of Vida Asana
$10,000+ - In the case that we raise more than $10,000 we'll allocate the remaining funds, to a scholarship, for a young girl in Lupe's hometown of Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica, with the same aspirations of being a Professional Surfer. Lupe surfed professionally all around the world. We would like to see her dream lived out through another young talented young girl.
We are also looking for nominations of mothers and fathers who could use this retreat. If you would like to nominate someone please email [email redacted]
Please help us bring a little peace to 10 grieving parents and make a dream come true for 1 young girl!
We are looking at March 2018 for the retreat.
We will also be throwing a Fundraiser to raise money for this retreat on on Sunday, May 21st at
Mandeville. 428 N Lemon Ave 11am-11pm.
There will be live bands, DJ's, Koren BBQ food truck, kid & pet friendly. Bring your furry friends to show off and be photographed by Tails of the Trails, Photos Fur Charity.
