Dear Human Beings, This is time sensitive and Immediate help Needed !! Please help at your earliest...
Tarun Kathuria, my paternal relative, at the age of 34, with no pre-existing conditions, Non Smoker, unfortunately suffering from damaged Lungs caused by pneumonia, which started with covid-19. I am appealing all of you to save dying young Tarun. Tarun being the only source of income for the family continued to thrive hard for earning after he lost his job due to covid-19 in April 2020.
Adding to their misery, Tarun was tested positive for Covid-19 on 17 September 2020. Within two days, Tarun’s condition deteriorated and on 19 September 2020 afternoon he was shifted to Sarvodaya hospital, Hisar, India in ICU. The very next day he was shifted locally to another hospital (Vardwaan Hospital) where he remained in ICU on ventilator support for five days.
Failed to improve, Tarun was shifted to higher center at Venketeshwar Hospital, Dwaraka, Delhi, India. He continued to remain critical in the Covid ICU and received injections like Meropenem, Tocilizumab, Remdesivir, and plasma therapy from recovered Covid patient( Tocilizumab single dose costs “40000 INR equivalent to 550 USD”. His oxygen saturation kept on falling even on ventilator machine and he was shifted on ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) which is an artificial lung machine. Initiation cost of this therapy is “500,000 INR equivalent to USD 7,000” and daily maintenance cost is approx. “30,000 INR equivalent to USD 410 USD/day”.
As of today, both his lungs are completely damaged and doctors at Venketeswar hospital advised to undergo the very expensive lung transplant procedure, which is being done at very few centers in India. Until date, family has spent “2,100,000 INR equivalent to 30,000 USD” on Tarun’s treatment and deplenished all their savings. The cost of lung transplant is around “3,500,000 INR equivalent to 50,000 USD”. Air lifting to transplant center will cost around “1,100,000 INR equivalent to 15,000 USD”. Awaiting period for lung transplant is approximately 1 to 1.5 months during which Tarun will remain on ECMO machine under critical care (treatment cost will be around “100,000 INR equivalent to 1,400 USD” per day). Postoperative care will require minimum of 15 days, which will put an additional cost of “1,500,000 INR equivalent to 20,000 USD”. The total budget excluding amount spent till date will be minimum “9,000,000 INR equivalent to 123,000 USD”.
Since Mr. Tarun’s family has deplenished all his life savings and there being no source of income for the family, We with Mrs. Shilpa Kathuria (Tarun’s wife) request you to all to kindly come forward and help Tarun to get a lung transplant so that he can live and take care of his family again. Even a smallest contribution will make a big difference. Kindly Help.
