Hello My name is Cleotis Eppes,
I have been diagnosed with IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) which is a chronic debilitating lung condition with no cure. Over the last 6-9 months I have went thru extensive test and procedures for this condition. Due to this I am currently in need of a double lung transplant. Transplants are very expensive, and insurance companies often only cover a portion of the cost. My insurance does not cover all expenses related to this transplant. The transplant itself may be covered, however the cost of daily post- medications and unforeseen complications often can become very overwhelming for the patient. Patients require a lifetime of follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications which can cost as much 5,000 per month. Therefore I am I am in need of donations to assist with the additional cost and after care of the procedure. This includes co-pays, travel expenses, after care housing, meals, and miscellaneous out of pocket expenses for the patient as well as the care givers providing the care. I have been placed on the lung transplant list at Cleveland Clinic. If the lung becomes available I will need to leave immediately from my home in Southfield, MI to prepare for the surgery. If it becomes necessary to be flown in by helicopter at the time of the transplant, air travel from my home is estimated between $7300-8,000. This will be an out of pocket expense as this is not covered by insurance. I am also placed on the transplant list at U of M Ann Arbor. Whichever facility has the lungs available first will be where I will have the surgery performed. Although one facility is closer than the other the cost associated with aftercare will still be costly. The further facility will definitely cost more as I will need to remain out of state for at least 6-12 weeks for the aftercare of the surgery. I will need to remain close the facility in the event of complications during that time. This is a serious matter for without this transplant my situation will only get Worse. Now that I have been placed on transplant list, I can be notified any day for the available lung transplant. Therefore, any donation is welcomed large or small to assist with this procedure. Thank you in advance for your donations and continue to pray for me and my family as I go through this transplant.
