Hey guys! So if you have gone to Philadelphia before or maybe go as frequently as my family does for its restaurants, events, shopping, etc. I'm sure you have seen all the homeless on the streets which they call their home. Towards the end of the summer my Mom and I had felt called to helping them in any way we could. Since we are Italian and love to eat we decided we wanted to start making lunches once a week for them. The first time we went we made 20 lunches and was able to give away them all. The next week we went we increased to making 25 lunches, which we gave all away. This past week we increased to making 30 lunches and were able to give them all away. As you can see, each week we have been increasing the amount of lunches we have made because each week we have met more hungry people. And as you can imagine, financially it can be hard to increase are growing number of lunches. In our lunches we put a cheese and lunch meat sandwich (turkey or ham), along with some sort of sweet snack (we have done chocolate chip cookies, corn bread, and munchkins), a fruit (we have done grapes and clementines), and a salty snack (we have done potato chips, hard pretzel twists, and Philly Soft Pretzels), a napkin, bottled water, mayo/mustard packets, along with and encouraging note from my Mom and I. As it is getting colder we would like to make home made soup for them as well. Just in the past 3 times we have gone my Mom and I have spent over $300 on food, lunch bags, paper bags and other supplies. And that's not including tolls to Philadelphia and parking. We love what we are doing a plan to continue this every week no matter what but financially it is getting tough. Some of these homeless people have remembered us and look forward to seeing us. There is so many grateful men and women that we have met that deserve at least one guaranteed meal a week. With that being said, we are starting a GoFundMe account for anyone who would like to help contribute to feeding Philadelphia's people, it would be so greatly appreciated. No amount would be too little, we would be happy to receive anything to help keep this going. We have also attached a sign to our little red wagon we've been wheeling around that says #LunchBagBlessing. At some point we would also like to start collecting gently used coats, gloves, scarves, hats etc. Thank you so much to anyone who feels called to contribute! #LunchBagBlessing #FeedPhiladelphia
