Lunatic Fringe, Proof of Concept

Donation protected
Isha, a homicide detective, has been turned into a vampire. How will she continue bringing killers to justice if she herself must kill to live?

The Story

Ever since the death of her partner, Isha has lost all motivation and has become consumed by suicidal thoughts. While working on what she presumes to be her last case, she comes across a clue that leads to The Butcher, a serial killer who has been targeting the residents of San Francisco. Once the investigation goes awry, Isha makes a last-ditch attempt to end her life. Her plan is foiled when she’s turned into a vampire and given a second chance at life.
The rest of the series follows Isha as she navigates her new strengths and limitations while continuing to solve crime and coming to terms with immortality.

Why Is This Impotant To Us?

Lunatic Fringe is not another crime drama that uses violence for entertainment. It’s a story about the value of life, who has the ability to end it, and the philosophical and ethical questions surrounding that.

We are confident in our vision of Lunatic Fringe as a series and plan to pitch it to streaming services the likes of Netflix and HBO. Having a proof of concept would be a great advantage in helping the producers better understand our vision.
This will be a great opportunity to showcase our ideas and the talent of local bay area filmmakers, further uplifting each other to create a thriving community and film industry.
We also hope that the series can help people struggling with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts or people who have someone in their life who is dealing with them.
Any resources and support provided will be used to help us achieve our goal.

Note From the Director

I’m dedicating Lunatic Fringe to my aunt Robin. She was a strong woman who always took care of the people in her life and supported my dreams of becoming a filmmaker. We both shared the same obsession for crime novels and I believe she would have enjoyed this series as well.
