I’m writing this with a heavy heart, desperate for a miracle for my sweet rescue kitten, Luna. She showed up at our apartment door earlier this year, and from that moment on, she brought endless joy and love into our lives. We can’t imagine our world without her now. Luna has bonded deeply with every member of our family—especially our rescue dog, Mo, who suffers from severe anxiety. Her presence has calmed him in ways we never thought possible. Even our other dog, Sophie, who pretends to be annoyed by Luna, can’t resist her charm. Luna’s unique personality—equal parts crazy, funny, sweet, and chaotic—has stolen the hearts of everyone she meets. My boyfriend Zack and I often end our days just watching her in awe, fascinated by her curiosity and boundless energy.

But recently, our world was turned upside down when Luna was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition. She has a congenital heart defect called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), which means there’s a hole in her heart that never closed as it should have. Without surgery, she won’t survive much longer. The devastating reality is that Luna is already deteriorating, and soon she won’t be able to run, play, or even breathe comfortably. Without intervention, we will lose her far too soon. She is not likely to live past this year.

Here’s a photo of her heart. Her condition caused it to grow way larger than it should have, and it has prevented her from growing properly – that’s why she is so small.

The good news is that surgery can save her life. The procedure would fix her heart, giving her a long, healthy future. But the surgery costs between $8,000 and $11,000, and after a month of exhausting every option—CareCredit, loans, second jobs—we’re still far short. We’ve already spent over $2,000 on vet visits alone, and with bills, rent, and mounting debt, we’re struggling to make ends meet. We’ve stretched ourselves as far as we can go.
This morning, Luna hopped onto my lap as she often does, curling up with that sweet, tired meow of hers, and it hit me all over again: I might only have a few months left with her. I can’t bear the thought of losing her without trying everything possible to save her. So, here I am, asking for your help.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward Luna’s heart surgery and the medical bills we've accumulated trying to save her. If you can contribute, no matter how small, it would mean the world to us. And if you can’t, sharing this fundraiser with others would be just as helpful. Your support could be the miracle we’ve been hoping for.

Luna has changed my life in ways I never thought possible, and I can’t imagine coming home without her greeting me, full of life and love. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving us hope and the chance to save Luna’s life.
With love and gratitude,
Alexis, Zack, Mo, Sophie, and Luna
