Luna's ongoing diabetes care
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Tori, Luna's mom. I rescued her from the streets of San Antonio in July 2015. She had been living as a stray there for at least 2 years in my friend's neighborhood. She was heartworm positive and very skittish. Fast forward to today, she is a spoiled senior pup who spends her days relaxing.
She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in December 2022 and has needed twice daily insulin injections as well as regular blood sugar checking ever since. She also has severe arthritis and takes 2 medications daily for her pain.
This past week (10/29-11/4/2023) she has been to different vets 4 times for extremely low blood sugar. They have done blood test, urinalysis, and x-rays, but have not been able to figure out why her diabetes is suddenly so disregulated when she was previously doing well. Right now the plan is to lower her insulin dose and monitor her blood sugar multiple times a day.
I have been working 50+ hour weeks as a nanny to try to pay for all of her medical costs but have been unable to keep up. I've been using care credit to pay for her emergencies, but will reach my spending limit soon.
I want to give Luna the best possible care and get to the bottom of what's going on. Thank you so much to anyone who has read this far. Please consider donating for her recent vet bills and ongoing care costs.
Here are her recent vet bills, and the cost for one bottle of insulin which lasts her about 2 weeks.
