Luna's Health Crisis
On August 27th, my sweet cat Luna started behaving strangely. I noticed she was bleeding from her private parts, and there was blood everywhere. She became lethargic, sleeping most of the day. Luna is usually an incredibly active cat, playing most of the day, if she's not following me around like a puppy. I knew something was very off.
The next day I lost power, due to a storm that passed through with high winds. My vets office was out of power. Luna remained lathargic, but her bleeding slowed.
The following day I was able to take Luna to her regular vet. They examined her and immediately suspected a condition called Pyometra.
Pyometra is a serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus that causes it to fill with bacteria and pus. Many cats with a pyometra have vaginal discharge and may feel very sick with a poor appetite, lethargy, vomiting and sometimes increased thirst or urination. The most effective treatment for pyometra is surgery to remove the uterus and ovaries, also known as a spay or ovariohysterectomy.
My vet referred me to the emergency vet down the street who performed an ultrasound on Luna, confirming that she did have Pyometra. The only option I had to save Luna's life was emergency surgery.
I was unable to afford the surgery at this vets office, but was lucky enough to find an emergency vet with lower prices; however, the cost of the surgery was still out of my means.
Due to the unforseen and unfortunate circumstances, I am asking for help to cover the cost of Luna's surgery and recovery fees. I know that times are tough right now, but any assistance with this matter would mean a great deal to me, Luna, and her brothers Diesel and Fabio.
Luna is a young 5 year old Maine Coon, and has a full life ahead of her. Because of this surgery, she can soon go back to playing and living her best life. Any help to make it through this crisis would be appreciated.
Thank you.
