Luna's Elbow replacements
Donation protected
Hello, we are Craig & Vivienne and this is about our dog Luna and her surgery costs.
Luna just recently became 1 year old and until recently was as active, lively and happy playing with other dogs and running around like a Luna-tic as any other 1yo puppy.
While playing and chasing through the woods with another dog, she tripped and had an accident, causing her to limp and being in constant pain.
I guess you could call it a lucky accident because due to this we had to make an X-Ray and as it turns out, she was already developing 3 forms of elbow dysplasia on both legs - a genetic birth defect.
Luckily, because of the accident, the vets caught on to her elbow dysplasia early on, before she had to endure strong pains.
According to the vet, there was only one option left, to offer her an almost normal life further on.
Luna needs an artificial elbow replacement in each of her legs, we already started with the first one on the right side, because there was not much time to waste.
We had planned to take a credit to cover the costs, however we were rejected because I can't renew my residence permit in Germany yet, which runs out next year and my girlfriend is still on probation at her job and we have no savings, living from paycheck to paycheck.
So now we have a lot of bills and no means to cover them. Since according to the vets, she has no other options, other than putting her down when her pain gets insufferable - which was not an option for us - we went ahead with the surgeries.
So far we have gotten bills that amount to over 6k €, but that was just the first leg and we still have the left side to go and several follow up appointments, which will be, according to the vet's estimated costs, another 5-6k €.
Luna is an otherwise happy and healthy dog, only 1 year old, with lots of energy and curiosity but with problems like a senior dog.
We want to give her a fulfilled life and the happy and painless life she deserves. She enriched our life in a way we could not have imgined before.
We ask for your help to cover the costs for her surgeries, we would greatly appreciate any help.
Anything would help to give our girl Luna a painless and hopefully long life!
It would help if you could share this, any exposure could help!
Thank your for taking your time to read Luna's story!
