Help Luna get an Adaptive Tricycle
Greetings friends, family & potential donors! A lot of you know Luna's story and what we are trying to do. As for those who don't, we are trying to raise funds to get Luna an adaptive tricycle so she too can enjoy the outdoors and ride a bike just like every other kid. Miss Luna was born with Hydrocephalus in 2013, had her first brainsurgery at just 1 day old. 3 months later she was back @ UFShands for her second brain surgery and had a shunt placed in her brain to drain the excess fluid. At age 3 she was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy, Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. Around age 5 she started trying to walk and required AFO's for her legs & feet to treat clonus. She can finally walk but still requires her braces and is a little wobbly.
Luna's mom has tried effortlessly to get a trike for her. From contests, sweepstakes, non-profit funding & grants. Earlier this year someone suggested that we try and get her insurance to pay for one but in the end, it was denied. Her momma didn't go down with a fight. She filed an appeal but it too, was denied.
Since birth Luna has been nothing but smiles! She has progressed tremendously over the years. The adaptive trike would help us extend the therapy that she desperately needs at home. While working on her core muscles and hand and eye coordination we could take exciting walks in the neighborhood. In essence making therapy at home a lot more fun than currently is. Another key factor, Mommy can get some exercise too!
During this process, close friends suggested that we start a Gofundme and now here we are. If you can contribute, we greatly appreciate it. More than you could ever imagine. Luna and I would be ever so grateful and feel that an adaptive tricycle could help her feel and act like any other child. I feel it could help boost her strength and confidence and let her enjoy the outdoors and a safe and exciting way.
