Luna's Procedure

Hello Readers,

We are the owners of a Siberian Husky named Luna. She is about 6 months old and is very loving, but shy. She loves to meet new people and make new friends. She enjoys playing with her new friends at the dog park, and splashing around in her water bowl. Whenever we come home from work she gets all excited to see us, and won’t stop licking us. She loves to sleep with us and take up the whole bed.

When we first got her we noticed that her butt was full of pee. Meaning to say she came from a very neglecting owner. She was very shy and would always shake, as if she were scared. She would always hide under the kitchen table, because she wouldn’t know what to do with herself. Ever since then we have made her a part of our family. She is potty trained and eats well, for a husky who is 38 pounds and loves chicken.

As months passed, we kept noticing that whenever she would get up from a lying position she would be full of pee. As this type of thing is not normal, we took her to Sage Veterinary Hospital. We found out that she had a UTI, abnormal right kidney, and dilated ureters. This is where they then recommended us to go to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital. UC Davis then ran another ultrasound of all her organs, did a urine culture, and a kidney lab test. They basically told us that her urinary system is not connected properly, and diagnosed Luna with Bilateral Ectopic Ureters that are Intramural (tunneling). Her ureters are attached to the bottom of her bladder, which then tunnel into her urethra and partly into her vagina.

With this condition she will need laser intervention or surgery. They do not know for certain what procedure they will actually do until they open her up and find out more. Her procedure is on January 24th, 2019 at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital. They estimated that this procedure will be around $4,000-$7,000. After the procedure we predict that she will recover well, hoping that she doesn’t have any other complications once the procedure is over. Expecting that this happens, we hope that she can continue to lead a healthy and happy life. If she doesn’t receive the procedure she will have kidney failure and live a shorter life than she would normally.

Because of her condition we care so deeply for her that we would anything to help her. We love her so much that we do not want to see her suffer any longer, that is why we are asking for help. This procedure costs already more than we had imagined, so whatever you can offer will help greatly. Thanks!
