Help Luna through an emergency
Donation protected
Hello, Lauren (Luna's Mom) here. Thanks for taking a moment to read about our girl and for considering donating. Luna has been through the ringer throughout her life, from relinquishment by a loving family unable to properly care for her, to double ACL tears in her hind legs that required multiple surgeries, to this newest development.
The morning of December 2nd 2023, I woke up at 2 AM to my Fiancé, Payden, cleaning up multiple spots of vomit from our bedroom floor and living room couch. I was of course concerned, and found her hiding under our bed. We NEVER scold her for vomiting-our thinking being she must already be feeling icky, why add to that- so this hiding behavior was odd. I got her into her bed, set her up with her blanket and well-loved lambchop, and quickly fell back asleep. I awoke at 7:00 AM, readying myself for a great day at work. I offered Luna my spot in bed (which she ALWAYS takes), but she would not move. I felt my heart skip a beat as I pondered if this was a once off "too-sleepy-dont-bug-me" moment. I reached down and she felt like ice. I hoisted her up, in an attempt to get her to stand but she couldn't. Her breathing was short and fast. Any pet parent knows that sinking feeling. From waking up at 7:00 am, we were out the door with Luna in our arms to the closest ER by 7:10. They brought her temperature up from 91 to 99, so she was no longer hypothermic. They gave her fluids, set her up with a catheter, and were ready for anything. She came out of the shocked state, and seems to be recovering well, but is set to remain hospitalized until the morning of December 3rd. Despite her seemingly recovering well now, we still have no clue as to why this event occurred.
We are asking for donations because while both myself and Payden work full time (myself in pet grooming and him in construction), there has been little room for saving. She requires specialized food for environmental allergies to avoid giant itchy hives, as well as more than a few life-long medications. We will always provide for her and have done just that. But in the process of doing what we could for her to get the most optimal treatment today, we had to take out 4 new credit cards.
All funds donated will go to ensuring that we will be able to continue any treatments as recommended by her PC and ER veterinarians. As of right now, no one can seem to tell us why she is sick, despite all of our doctors and technicians best efforts. As hard as it is for us to find the funds for this treatment, we understand that doctors then also have to work within our limits. Our hope is this money would help ensure that we could continue to protect and care for her, as well as give doctors approval for any specialized testing that needs to be done to find the root cause (and consequently prevent this terrifying event from occurring again).
Thank you for taking the time to read about our beloved Luna. If you would prefer to donate directly to the hospital she is staying at, please feel free to contact us directly for that information.
To every veterinarian and technician who hold our loved ones lives in their hands, and do everything they can to return them back to us happier and healthier than before- Thank you, you are appreciated endlessly.
