The National Outreach Program (NOP) at LUMS is a program that extends the benefits of stellar university education in Pakistan to students who might otherwise not have the financial resources or live in underdeveloped areas. There have been numerous success stories to come out of this program, Karrar Jaffar being one. Belonging to a small town in Balochistan, Karrar graduated from LUMS as an NOP scholar and went on to pursue graduate school at the prestigious Harvard University [1].
Alumni from LUMS Class of 2017 have created this Class Fund to sponsor the education of one such NOP scholar for a four year study tenure (continue reading for Pakistani bank details). We believe that quality education that we were provided at LUMS is a privilege and many of us alumni are now in a position in our careers where we can help extend this quality education privilege to others, together.
The sponsorship cost is estimated at PKR 4.8 million (Approx. 30,000 USD). This cost includes tuition fee waiver, semester registration charges, lab fee (in case of SSE student), hostel accommodation (if availed) and a living allowance / stipend.
We're aiming to raise 15,000 USD for this cause. Employer matching will help us double the amount and allow us to sponsor one NOP student.
Please donate generously and encourage your friends and family to do the same. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments.
