Emily is a mother and teacher who has recently had a relapse of Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from past events ranging from childhood abuse to sexual assault. The intensity of her symptoms, from flashbacks, to dissociative episodes, major depressive periods, and panic attacks, have left her unable to work or care for her family, including her two small children.

The onset of this disease was rapid, and over a period five weeks Emily went from working and being high functioning, to being unable to work and incapacitated to lead her normal, fulfilling life. She progressed rapidly from frequent therapy sessions, to a residential crisis center, and is now an inpatient on a psychiatric ward that is not suited to trauma treatment.

Due to the specific nature of this illness, and the specific course of treatment known to be most effective, Emily and her family are looking out of state and out of insurance network for treatment options. They all simply want Emily to get as well as possible so that she can return home to her family and, eventually, to work.

There is a lot of stigma attached to mental illness, and so it is hard to ask for help to seek treatment. Emily and her family are looking at a program in Houston that would cost roughly $75,000 for 6 -8weeks of treatment. We ask that you consider making a donation in whatever amount you can to help Emily return to her happy and healthy self.
