Clinical Pastoral Education program (CPE) of Central Ca., Fresno, CA.

Hello, my name is Edward del Arroyo,

I seek your financial support to continue my training as Chaplain Intern in oncology and palliative care in the healthcare field to those in the death and dying process / end stages of life.  My life’s passion and dream work stem from my own near death experience when I was five years old. What sets me apart from most is a personal gift to a profound journey I wish to share  with others bridging life’s experience to meaning-making to one’s process.  I experienced my own transition to a death experience some may fear going through alone.  Currently as Chaplain Intern,  my goal as a spiritual care provider in Oncology / Palliative care and Intensive care units, meet those in life’s journey toward meaning-making one should not process alone.  I personally know how dying alone one may feel.

The journey to my personal “call” however, changed for me in 2008 when Wall Street [We all] went through a financial collapse which hit us hard, where my life’s dream and focus was cut short. I had left school without a degree, and the availability to chaplaincy was cut short too.  My goal has been and remains solid for Clinical Pastoral Education [CPE units (4)] need two more units in completing the program. I felt the rug yanked from my beneath my feet.  And in 2011 it became increasingly difficult for me. It took another two years, when in 2013 finally completing the Master of Divinity degree, which is the  prerequisite  to complete the requirements towards my Chaplaincy, and like many, could not finish my  dream ministry and program.  It’s been a struggle ever since.  At the end of 2011, could not locate employment, and found myself keeping homelessness at bay living with friends. Consequently, almost at the end of 2013 and almost the whole year of 2014 found my-self living in my car. I am holding my own right now, but can’t afford to finish paying to complete the program, which ends later part in August 2016.

I have struggled to financial aid eligibility in fulfilling my call.  I remain passionately steadfast to be the effective care giver I want to be in serving for those patients and families who are going through life’s transition.  In order to complete my Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program as Chaplain Intern, I need 2 more units of my training, and need of your financial support; I currently am unable to do. Payments to my program are needed now.

Cost needed:

$1200 to complete the program. I am half way done to complete four units this August (2016), could only afford to give a down payment of $200 for this term to stay in the program.
In addition, need educational tools: computer, transportation expenses ($1200) All TOTAL =  $2200
I wish to invite you in support to help me complete my dream and vocation toward a life-long desire; A personal and ultimate call to give for the terminally ill and to those who love, care, and serve them.  Together we can make a difference in the innovation to caring for those making life and death transitions. This is a life giving "call" that will enrich those terminal and dying patients and their loved one that I humbly ask for your help. With your help, I promise I will be successful in reaching my dream and vocation.

Thank You, and may God grant His peace to you,

Edward del Arroyo, Chaplain Intern
