It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Lourdes “Lulu” Machado, who went to be with the Lord at the age of 44 on February 15, 2025. “Lulu” was born on August 4, 1980, in Brawley, CA. She was affectionately given the nickname “Lulu” after her younger brother, Jose could not pronounce her name; she was “Yuyu” to him. 

 

“Lulu,” a beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend passed away after complications resulting from the sudden return of cancer, having beaten ovarian cancer in 2016. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, learning, and making others laugh. She had the most beautiful smile, paired with the sweetest dimples. Her passing has left an immense void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her.

 

She is survived by her parents Maria L. Sanchez and Rodney Kitchel; brothers Jose, Aaron, and Sebastian; sisters-in-law Gloria and Sophie; nieces Inez, Arissa, Savannah, and Rosalyn; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
