Luke Price's Eagle Project, Purdon Comm. Church

Hi, I am Luke Price and am fundraising for my Eagle Project.

 

The project will benefit Purdon Community Church, a church at the geographic center of Purdon, TX, a small rural community in Navarro County. There are around 1400 people in Purdon, many who live below the poverty line. The Purdon area is important to me and my family. My great-great-grandfather and his extended family moved to the area after the Civil War; my grandfather and grandmother were raised there. Today, my grandfather lives in Purdon and attends church at Purdon Community Church where he serves as an Elder.

 

The project is two-fold and is intended to benefit the church and the broader Purdon community.

 

First, we will clean, repair, and apply weather proofing to the two wooden play structures on the church property. The church recently received two playground sets that appear structurally sound, but are damaged and cracking in areas, and badly need to be weather-proofed. The playground is open to all and frequently used by kids in the community, whether attending church there or not. We will use a power washer to clean the playsets. Next, we will repair portions of the playsets and replace cracked and damaged boards. Finally, we will apply weather proofing to both playsets to ensure many long years of safe playing.

 

Second, the church currently has no parking lot or even defined parking area. Visitors simply park on grass areas near the church. The project will create a defined, safer parking area using large wood beams spaced out to create a designated parking area for the church. The church later plans to add gravel to this area to further develop the parking area. This part of the project will require a lot of new, seasoned lumber.

 

I am very grateful for any support you can provide. We are purchasing timber for the parking area, lumber for the play sets, and assorted tools and safety equipment for the work.
