Luke Chaney College Scholarship Fund

Donation protected

So many people have reached out wanting to do something for the Chaneys and asking how they can help during this difficult time.  In lieu of flowers, the family came up with the Luke Chaney College Scholarship Fund  as the best way to honor Mark, his legacy, and what he wanted for his family ❤️

As many of you know, Luke is currently a senior at Pikeville High School, set to graduate in May with plans of attending NKU in the fall. What should have been a year of fun and celebration has been a year marked by hardship and loss for Luke and his family.  After a long, hard battle for his life, Luke's dad, Mark Chaney, passed away on April 24th at the age of 51.

If you knew Mark, you know what a hard worker he was. He was a businessman. He worked long hours and valued getting the job done right. But more than that, more than anything, Mark was a family man. He dedicated his life to making sure his wife, Trish, and two children, Lindsey and Luke, were taken care of. But no matter how many hours he worked, his heart was always at home with his family.  From pool parties to lake life to countless trips and adventures, from family holidays to extracurriculars to award banquets and graduations, there was nothing Mark wouldn't do for Trish, Luke and Lindsey. Nothing.

And if you knew Mark, you know that his generosity reached far beyond his immediate family. Mark would do whatever he could to help anyone in need. He was a good man with such a giving heart. Together, he and Trish would give the shirts off their backs and never tell a soul or ask for recognition. A quick scroll down their Facebook pages right now tells you everything you need to know about Mark and Trish:  comment after comment mourning Mark's loss and thanking them for for always giving of themselves so selflessly, for making a difference, for being there when others needed them.

Mark was so many things to so many people. Husband, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, the list goes on. But his most important role was being a dad. He was always so proud of his kids. He and Trish were always Luke and Lindsey's biggest supporters, their constant cheerleaders. He never missed an event celebrating their achievements. He never stopped encouraging them to chase their dreams. And although Mark is no longer here with us on this side of Heaven, we know nothing would make him happier than to see friends and family come together to support Luke as he continues to chase his dreams <3

Nothing can take away the pain this family is feeling, but we can join together to help ease their burdens. In lieu of flowers and in memory of the loving, proud father Mark Chaney was, the family welcomes donations to the Luke Chaney College Scholarship Fund. All donations made will be moved to a trust for Luke to use as he pursues a degree in marketing and finance this fall at NKU.

Thank you so much for supporting Luke and the Chaney family during this heartbreaking time. Mark would be so proud and so grateful.
