My name is Luke Canfield, and I am asking for support during an especially challenging time in my life. In March, I received news that greatly impacted my life. An MRI revealed a large right skull base cystic mass, consistent with a cystic vestibular schwannoma, measuring 2.5cm x 3.5cm x 4cm. This tumor is not only invading my internal auditory canal but also extending into the cerebellopontine angle and beginning to apply pressure to the nerves there. The diagnosis has been overwhelming, and I quickly realized this was going to be tough.

I am seeking to raise $10,000 to help cover the medical expenses related to my upcoming surgery and recovery process, including lost wages from being out of work for 4 to 5 weeks. Reaching out for help is not easy for me and I’m trying not to feel guilt for making this, but your support means the world to me and will make a tremendous difference in my recovery.

The tumor has already affected my hearing and balance, making everyday activities a struggle. As someone who enjoys physical activities, this condition has taken a significant toll on my quality of life. The surgery is essential to prevent further complications, but it comes with substantial medical costs.

The total cost of the surgery, post-operative care, and rehabilitation is daunting. Even with insurance and short-term disability, the expenses add up quickly. Additionally, being out of work for 4 to 5 weeks means lost wages, further straining my financial situation.
