The news is chaotic, queer and trans feel fear and anxiety at all time high levels and in the middle of this I am still starting my annual birthday fundraiser for Frameline because I believe this art/film/storytelling community and yearly festival gathering are a meaningful way to fight back and continue to support and uplift each other, our queer histories, and to sustain hope and joy right up in the face of political oppression and discrimination. We can’t and won’t just sit still and be steamrolled by hate & bigotry. We never have.
Supporting Frameline is one of many ways to encourage continuous documentation, learning, collaboration, and development of queer stories so the works of a variety of creators is seen and shared in order to inspire collective forward momentum for change.
I know it’s hard to have hope right now and the headlines are grim but I have to try each day to do something and today I’m kicking off this fundraiser and for the next month I’ll be posting about the queer films that have inspired me and I hope that those who are able to will donate and that anyone who feel moved to do so will share this to reach more eyes & potential supporters.
Thank you!
