Luka's Lifesavers

Meet Luka, a very handsome good boy that needs some help to get better. Luka was found abandoned and uncared for in Pittsburgh, until Vince and Morgan showed up on Tuesday to be his new mom and dad. The main reason for this fundraiser is to help fund the expensive treatments needed to save Luka's life from this life threatening infection he is currently battling. 

Unfortunately, Luka is currently very sick with Parvovirus. Parvo is the canine parvovirus (CPV) infection, and it is a highly contagious viral disease in dogs. The intestinal form of CPV drastically reduces the dog's ability to absorb nutrients. This means that infected animals quickly become dehydrated and weak from a lack of protein absorption.

Luka spent one day at Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency and was treated alongside their critical care team. He received lots of love, medication, blood work, and fluids while he was there.

Luka came home yesterday with all his medication and was under the 24/7 care of his new mom and dad. Unfortunately, Luka is continuing to get sick and after a restless night with lots of vomiting and diarrhea, he is back in the emergency room.

It has been 2 days with Luka back in the emergency room and his blood levels have dropped. His body is losing the ability to fight off infection. He was given a feeding tube to try and give his body nutrients that it needs in order to survive. He has responded well but is still very sick. We were all eager to hear that he did show interest in eating chicken on his own, which is big!
