Support Luka's Journey to Recovery

Hello, my name is Luka. I’m a little dog with a big heart, originally from Honduras, and I’ve had the best five years a dog could ask for with my mom and dad by my side. I was adopted by my mom when I was just a pup, only seven months old, and since then, we’ve shared a bond that I know will last forever. When my mom met my dad, we became a family of three, and our love and happiness only grew. They are my whole world, and I’m theirs.

Recently, though, life changed for us. A few weeks ago, I started feeling pain, the kind I’d never felt before. My walks, my park outings, and my playtime—all the things I love—began to slip away. I couldn’t even jump up to greet my mom anymore. Worried, my parents took me to see my dogtor, who ran many tests. That’s when we got the news that none of us expected: I have IVDD, a disease that affects my spine and has taken away my ability to move freely and comfortably. It’s caused me so much pain, and now I need special care that could be my only chance at getting back to the life I love. My family is heartbroken. I can see the worry in their eyes every day.

My parents have been my champions from the start. When we moved to Houston, they did everything to make sure I could come with them. Now they’re doing everything they can to find a way to get me the care I need. But the cost is overwhelming. My medical care will be extensive, and it’s more than my family can manage alone.

That’s why we’re reaching out to you. We’re hoping that with the kindness and generosity of people who understand how much a furry family member means, we can raise enough to get me back on my feet. My parents are doing everything they can to make this possible, but we need your help to make it a reality.
