Luka and Julia's shave for refugees

Donation protected
Australia is a large and wealthy country, yet when it comes to people seeking refuge from a place in which they had no option but to leave, we are far from welcoming.

2.5 million refugees were recognised and resettled in 2016, yet Australia only assisted 1.4%, most of which are still trapped and enduring endless suffering and trauma. For the ones allowed in, they have not been given the right support or access to essential services.

Some of these people live within our own communities, which makes this issue very close to our hearts. We believe that everyone must open their eyes to these needs, and the best way is to begin with ourselves - at home and in our own region. We may not be able to change the Governments Laws, but as two teenage girls speaking for our younger generation, we can try our best to raise awareness and make a difference in our own community.

We will be giving up something that we’ve never lived without, our hair, in order to raise money which will be given directly to local refugee families in need.

Shaving our heads will take place on the 25th of March 2018 during the Songs of Freedom concert at Deans Marsh Festival (Cultural Diversity Week).

Please donate to show your support and help us make a difference.
