Hi , I am trying to help the Torres family. Ricardo Torres worked for me and I am trying to help his little brother . This is the story of Luis Torres who worked in construction and last year, on 13th November 2021, he accidently drank Acid on site. The chemical (Acid) was in a bottle of Gatorade and he drank it thinking its a drink. This burnt his esophagus and we was in the ICU at Trinitas hospital in Elizabeth NJ. After this, he underwent two major surgeries to connect two gastric feeding tubes to his intestine. The tube is used to feed him because his esophagus is so damaged and so burnt that it was completely closed. He cant eat through his mouth, he cannot drink and he cannot even swallow his own saliva hence he has to spit it out all the time.
He spent almost 4 months in the hospital with severe burns on his esophagus, his tongue and parts of his stomach.
Now he is home, and since 8 months he is bed ridden as he has to stay connected to the tubes at all times. He is given food and medicines through the gastric route with a special diet that is very expensive. He feeds through a pump that sends the milk to his tube and to his stomach.
He suffers a lot because it's been a year since he has been able to eat a bite. He can't work because he has to be connected 24 hours a day to the food pump. His wife has abandoned him and his brother has to bear very high expenses for his medicine, the food and the medical team. So it is very difficult for him to be able to cover all this to feed his own little brother.
The doctors are continuously checking on him and doing continuous tests. They are waiting for the burns to heal a little so they can subject him to a major surgery where they will try to remove his esophagus and put a synthetic one.
He has a major surgery in January. This is a very expensive and a risky surgery, and he may not survive. We need to help the family to raise funds to feed him and for his surgery.
