Luis R... Grandfather, Father and Sweetest Man

It all started with a phantom hernia..

Picture it NJ March 2022; my sweet and gentle dad was not feeling the greatest, thinking he had a hernia from a bout of food poisoning. Then, a couple of weeks later, we received the most devastating news we had never imagined we'd hear.

Several scans revealed metastatic cancer (yet oddly, no trace of a hernia).

Undaunted by such a terrifying diagnosis, he was prepared for a heck of a fight and raring to go, so full of life is this almost 80-year-old teddy bear.

Healing from emergency surgery, we had to wait for his chemo to start, but that didn't stop us from preparing for the battle ahead.

And then a microscopic villian laid all of our plans asunder. A stealth bacterial infection invaded his blood, and no matter what weapons were used we had to admit defeat.

So here we are today, grateful that he isn't in any pain, comfortable among his loved ones, but knowing we have days and, if we are lucky, a week with this gentle soul.

So why Go fund me? We can honestly say we never expected to be in this situation. To say we were caught off guard is an understatement. Between medical bills and final and memorial expenses, this small family of 6 is overwhelmed.
