Luis and Laura Pimentel Scholarship Fund
Luis and Laura Pimentel were migrant farmworkers who lived in northern California (Marysville) from 1963 to 2021. During this time period, they worked as farm workers in the surrounding local communities. In the latter part of their lives, when they could no longer work as farm laborers, Luis and Laura owned various Mexican bars in the Marysville/Yuba City area. Although neither of them ever attended college, and in fact were pushed out of school in Mexico during their elementary school years, they were always huge advocates of higher education. While they were very aware of the various obstacles that exist in higher education, they believed that by obtaining a higher education, people could hopefully minimize racism.
